The Queen of England, her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, and their children visited Cape Coast in 1961, and the video that went viral and captured the interest of most Ghanaians showed the chiefs there (where Fante is spoken) lining up one by one to present bars of gold to them.
British Pathe Film shared the footage, which was published on YouTube on April 13, 2014. The Queen and her husband were welcomed to the former capital of the Gold Coast with a beautiful durbar, as can be seen in the video, by the chiefs and people of Fantes.
