Selena Gomez is giving her fans a look into her personal life in a big new way.
The actor, musician, and Rare Beauty founder shared the news of her forthcoming AppleTV+ documentary, called My Mind and Me, with a simple clip of a movie theater setting and the documentary’s title card on-screen.
“Wanna hear a part to my story…” wrote Selena alongside the video. According to the Apple Original Films press release, My Mind and Me is a “uniquely raw and intimate documentary” that will delve into the highest highs of Selena’s career and also shine a light onto some of the darker moments of her journey.
“After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom.

My Mind and Me is directed by Alek Keshishian, who famously helmed Madonna’s legendary, no-holds-barred ’90s documentary Truth or Dare, which is considered to be one of the best music documentaries of all time.
Fans are hopeful that My Mind and Me will be as honest and open as its predecessor; some have pointed out that the six-year period in question covers a handful of major moments in Selena’s life, including cancelling her Revival tour due to mental health issues, having her kidney transplant as treatment for lupus, and sharing her bipolar diagnosis.
According to Vulture, Keshishian started working with Selena after directing her “Hands to Myself” video in 2015.
My Mind and Me appears to be more in-depth and vulnerable than its peers; writer Matt Jacobs tweeted that he’d spoken with the director, who “promised it would have more integrity than the other docs of late.”
Fans were quick to share their support for Selena opening up about some of her most vulnerable moments, including those she hasn’t spoken about often.
“’Why is she still talking about this’ ‘Why is she still talking about that’ BECAUSE SHE CAN! simple as that, she chose to drop this documentary when she was ready, not for clout, not for sympathy points and definitely not to prove something to the world, this sh*t is GENUINE,” wrote one.
“Selena Gomez’s documentary is going to be emotional and inspirational considering how much she has struggled to reach this level of success in everything.
I’m so excited to hear her story through her,” wrote another.
On Sept. 20, Selena shared the first teaser for the project, a 30-second montage of clips of Selena over the years.
The scenes show Selena laughing with family and friends, and crying alone in dressing rooms. “My Mind & Me.
We don’t get along sometimes and it gets hard to breathe,” Selena wrote on Instagram. “But I wouldn’t change my life.”
Apple TV+ revealed that My Mind and Me will be released on November 4, 2022, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of Selena’s world through her own empowered perspective.
