Elon Musk, in a recent post on Twitter, announced that the platform has implemented temporary reading limits due to the significant issue of data scraping and system manipulation. This measure aims to combat the excessive levels of these activities.

According to Musk, verified accounts will be restricted to reading 6,000 posts per day. Additionally, unverified accounts and new unverified accounts will have limits of 600 posts and 300 posts per day, respectively, in terms of their reading capacity.

This decision follows Twitter’s recent announcement that users must have an account on the platform in order to view tweets. Elon Musk referred to this as a “temporary emergency measure” just the day before.

The reason behind these restrictions is the aggressive scraping of Twitter data by numerous organizations, which has had a detrimental impact on the overall user experience.

Musk has expressed his dissatisfaction with artificial intelligence companies such as OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, for utilizing Twitter’s data to train their large language models.

In an effort to regain advertisers who had abandoned the platform during Musk’s ownership and to increase subscription revenue, Twitter had previously taken various actions, including incorporating verification check marks into the Twitter Blue program.

These steps were implemented to attract advertisers and provide more value to their subscription service.
